Wardrobe Wrapping Glasgow

If your fitted wardrobe still works but looks like it belongs in a different decade, wrapping it in architectural vinyl is the fastest way to bring it up to date without ripping anything out.

Maybe it’s the colour. Maybe it’s that builder-grade oak finish from the early 2000s that looked dated by 2010. Maybe you’ve redecorated the bedroom around it and now the wardrobe sticks out like it belongs in a different house. Whatever the reason, you’re thinking about replacing it, and that means ripping out something that still functions perfectly well.

Wardrobe Wrapping Glasgow

There’s another option. Wardrobe wrapping gives your furniture a completely new finish without pulling a single unit off the wall. We apply architectural vinyl directly over the existing surfaces, covering doors, drawer fronts, side panels, and trim in whatever colour or texture you choose.

What is wardrobe wrapping?

It’s the same process we use for kitchen wrapping in Glasgow, applied to bedroom furniture instead. A high-quality vinyl film is measured, cut, and heat-formed around each surface of your wardrobe. The wrap bonds directly to the existing material, whether that’s MDF, melamine, or solid timber, and the result looks like a brand new piece of furniture.

The vinyl itself is an architectural-grade film, not the self-adhesive shelf liner you’d find in a hardware shop. It’s the same type of polyvinyl chloride (PVC) film used in commercial refurbishment projects and high-end interior fit-outs, engineered to resist peeling, bubbling, and fading over years of daily use.

We carry finishes ranging from smooth matt and satin solids through to textured woodgrains, concrete effects, and metallic tones. If you can see it on a kitchen door or a hotel reception desk, chances are there’s an architectural vinyl that matches it.

Why wrap a wardrobe instead of replacing it?

Fitted wardrobes are built into the room. That’s what makes them so useful and so difficult to replace. Pulling out a fitted wardrobe means dismantling the carcass, dealing with the wall damage behind it, patching plaster, repainting, and then paying someone to build and install a new one. For a bedroom, that could mean days without a functional room and your clothes piled on the spare bed.

Wrapping sidesteps all of that disruption. We work with the wardrobe exactly as it stands, applying the new finish in place. Your bedroom stays usable throughout the installation, and most wardrobe wrapping jobs are finished within a single day. You don’t need to empty the wardrobes completely either. We work section by section, moving contents only as needed.

The transformation is purely visual, but that’s exactly what most customers need. If the carcass is solid and the hinges work, why throw away perfectly good furniture just because you don’t like the colour?

What we can wrap on your wardrobe

Every visible surface is fair game. The most common request is doors and drawer fronts, since those are what you actually see, but we can wrap every part of the unit to give a completely uniform new look.

Doors and drawer fronts

Hinged doors, sliding doors, and all drawer faces. We wrap around the edges so there’s no visible seam from the front, and the finish carries through to the interior lip if the door profile allows it. Handles can be kept, replaced, or removed entirely for a push-to-open look that suits modern bedroom interiors.

Side panels and end panels

The exposed sides of a wardrobe are often the most dated-looking part, especially on fitted units that run wall-to-wall with one visible end panel. Wrapping these panels ties the whole piece together and stops the new doors looking odd against an old carcass.

Top panels and plinths

If your wardrobe has a visible top section or a plinth at floor level, we wrap those too. Attention to detail matters here because these are the areas a sloppy job would skip, and they’re the areas that give the whole thing away if left untouched.

Interior shelves (optional)

Most people don’t bother with internal shelves since you rarely see them with the doors closed. But if you’re going for glass-fronted doors or open shelving, wrapping the interior makes sense and gives you that fully finished look.

Finishes and colours

The range of architectural vinyl finishes available now is nothing like the sticky-back plastic of twenty years ago. We work with films from leading manufacturers that replicate textures so convincingly you’d struggle to tell the difference by touch alone.

Popular choices for bedroom wardrobes include matt white (clean and modern), warm oak woodgrain (softer and more natural), charcoal or anthracite (for a bold, contemporary feel), and sage or olive greens that work well in recently redecorated rooms. You can also go two-tone, wrapping doors in one finish and the surrounding frame in another, which works particularly well on large fitted wall units.

We bring sample swatches to your home so you can see the finish against your walls, flooring, and bedding before committing. Our full range is available on our website, but samples in hand always beat pictures on a screen.

Our wardrobe wrapping services across Glasgow

We’re based in Kirkintilloch and cover all of Glasgow and central Scotland. Whether you’re in the West End, Southside, East Kilbride, or Paisley, we’ll come to you for a no-obligation consultation and provide a written estimate before any work begins.

Most of our wardrobe wrapping customers come to us after we’ve already wrapped their kitchen cupboards. Once you’ve seen what vinyl wrapping can do in one room, the bedroom wardrobes tend to be next on the list. We also wrap bathroom vanities, alcove shelving, radiator covers, and other fitted furniture around the home, so if you’ve got a larger refurbishment project in mind, we can handle the lot from start to finish.

For commercial clients, we offer wardrobe and furniture wrapping for hotels, serviced apartments, student accommodation, and landlord portfolios. Our commercial wrapping services follow the same process as our domestic work, just scaled to fit the project.

How wardrobe wrapping works

  1. Get in touch – Call us on 0141 777 5027 or request an estimate online. Send us photos of your wardrobe and we’ll give you an idea of what’s involved.
  2. Home consultation – We visit to measure up, assess the condition of the surfaces, and go through finish options with physical samples. You’ll get a written estimate on the spot.
  3. Preparation – On installation day, we remove handles and hardware, then clean and prep every surface. If there’s any damage to the substrate, we repair it before wrapping so the finish sits perfectly flat.
  4. Wrapping – Each panel is wrapped individually using professional heat guns and squeegees to form the vinyl tightly around edges and profiles. No shortcuts, no air pockets, no lifted corners.
  5. Finishing – Hardware goes back on (or new handles are fitted if you’ve chosen to upgrade), we clean up, and you’ve got what looks like a brand new wardrobe in the same room you started the morning in.

Wardrobe wrapping vs painting

Painting wardrobes is a common DIY approach, and it can look decent if you know what you’re doing. The trouble is most bedroom furniture has a melamine or laminate finish that paint doesn’t bond well to, even with primer. You’ll get brush marks, drips, and uneven coverage unless you spray, which means either hiring equipment or paying a decorator. And even a good paint job can chip, scratch, and show wear within a year or two.

Vinyl wrapping produces a factory-smooth finish that won’t brush-mark, won’t drip, and resists scratches far better than paint on laminate. It’s also completely reversible. If you sell the house or change your mind in five years, the wrap can be removed without damaging the surface underneath. Try saying that about paint on melamine.

Can all wardrobes be wrapped?

Almost all of them. Fitted wardrobes, freestanding wardrobes, sliding door wardrobes, hinged door wardrobes, walk-in wardrobe interiors. The main thing we need is a smooth, stable substrate to wrap onto. If the doors are warped, delaminating, or water-damaged beyond repair, we’ll tell you honestly whether wrapping is the right solution or whether replacement makes more sense.

Wardrobes with routed or profiled door fronts (the type with raised or recessed panel details) wrap well because the heat-forming process allows the vinyl to follow contours. Flat slab doors are the simplest to wrap, but profiled doors often look the most impressive once finished because the texture of the vinyl adds depth to the existing panel design.

We’ve wrapped wardrobes in new-build flats where the builder-grade furniture just needed a colour change, Victorian tenement bedrooms where the alcove wardrobes were solid but tired, and modern homes where the customer wanted to match their bedroom furniture to a newly wrapped kitchen.

FAQ

Can I get my wardrobe wrapped?

Yes. If your wardrobe doors, drawers, and panels are structurally sound, they can be wrapped in architectural vinyl. We wrap fitted wardrobes, freestanding units, sliding door systems, and walk-in wardrobes. The only wardrobes we’d advise against wrapping are those with severe water damage or delamination where the substrate has broken down.

Can wardrobe doors be wrapped?

Wardrobe doors are the most common thing we wrap. Both flat slab doors and profiled panel doors can be wrapped. We heat-form the vinyl around edges and profiles so the finish is seamless. Sliding wardrobe doors can also be wrapped, though we’ll need to remove them from the track to do the work properly.

Is it better to paint or wrap wardrobe doors?

Wrapping gives a more durable, more consistent finish than painting, particularly on melamine and laminate surfaces that don’t hold paint well. A vinyl wrap won’t chip or show brush marks, and it’s reversible if you want to change the look later. Painting can work on solid timber wardrobes, but even then the finish tends to wear faster than vinyl in high-touch areas like handles and edges.

How long does wardrobe wrapping take?

Most single or double wardrobes take a day to wrap. Larger fitted bedroom sets with multiple units, overhead cupboards, and matching drawers might stretch to two days. We’ll confirm the timeline during the home consultation so you know exactly what to expect.

What finishes are available?

We carry hundreds of architectural vinyl finishes including matt, satin, gloss, and textured options. Popular wardrobe choices include matt white, woodgrain effects, concrete and stone textures, and solid colours in contemporary shades. We bring samples to your home so you can match to your existing decor.

Do you wrap kitchen furniture too?

Kitchen wrapping is our core service. We wrap kitchen cupboard doors, drawer fronts, worktops, plinths, and end panels. Many of our wardrobe wrapping customers first came to us for a kitchen transformation and then asked us to do the bedrooms to match.
